Product Description

Factory-Installed Tire Pressure Monitoring System for Buses—Product Introduction

I. Product Overview

The Factory-Installed Tire Pressure Monitoring System for Buses is a factory-installed, direct-type tire pressure monitoring system custom-designed for urban buses and urban-rural passenger buses. It serves as a standard safety electronic control component installed on the vehicle at the factory and fully complies with the JT/T 1429-2022 industry standard for tire pressure monitoring in commercial vehicles, as well as regulations for passenger buses. The system is compatible with traditional fuel-powered buses, all-electric buses, and hybrid new-energy buses. It is designed specifically for the unique operating conditions of buses, including low-speed starts and stops, frequent braking, driving in urban traffic congestion, and significant fluctuations in passenger load. It undergoes factory-level vehicle calibration, bus integration, and full-scenario reliability verification before leaving the factory.

The system collects core data in real time—including tire pressure, tire temperature, and sensor battery levels across all tires—and synchronizes this information with the vehicle’s CAN bus via wireless RF transmission. It displays the data simultaneously on the in-vehicle instrument panel and the in-vehicle terminal, and interfaces with the smart fleet operation and maintenance cloud platform. This enables real-time in-vehicle alerts for drivers, remote backend monitoring, and intelligent fault analysis, thereby eliminating safety hazards such as tire blowouts, overheating, and abnormal wear at their source. It ensures the safety of public transportation for citizens while reducing fleet operation and maintenance costs and minimizing losses from service disruptions.

II. System Composition

The complete system is a vehicle-level integrated solution featuring streamlined, stable hardware designed to fit the bus’s overall structure, eliminating the risks associated with retrofitting. Its core components are as follows:

  1. Dedicated Tire Sensors: Utilizing commercial-vehicle-grade waterproof and shock-resistant sensors, available in two types—external valve stem-mounted and internal adhesive-mounted—to accommodate all bus wheel specifications. Equipped with a high-precision MEMS chip, temperature sensor module, and motion-activated wake-up unit, these sensors support operation across a wide temperature range and are resistant to high temperatures during braking, road vibrations, and exposure to mud and water. With an IP68/IP69K protection rating, they are designed to withstand the frequent starts and stops typical of bus operations and complex road conditions. Their long battery life meets the demands of long-term bus operations.
  2. RF Receiver Module: Designed to fit the bus’s overall installation layout, it is mounted on the chassis or inside the driver’s cab to reliably receive wireless signals from sensors throughout the vehicle. The signal demodulation algorithm is optimized to address signal shielding issues caused by the bus’s length and metal body, eliminating signal packet loss and data delays to ensure stable data transmission across multiple wheel positions.
  3. TPMS Main Control ECU: The system’s core control unit, designed for factory integration into the vehicle, supports CAN/CAN FD bus protocols, and seamlessly integrates with the electric control systems of new energy buses. It handles data parsing, threshold determination, self-diagnostic testing, and wheel position identification. It can be programmed into the vehicle’s diagnostic system, allowing vehicle diagnostic tools to read fault data, and is compatible with automakers’ production line inspection and after-sales maintenance systems.
  4. On-Board HMI Display Terminal: Natively integrated into the bus’s original instrument cluster, eliminating the need for an additional screen. It displays real-time tire pressure and temperature data for each tire. When an anomaly is detected, it automatically triggers graded audible and visual alarms to prompt the driver to investigate promptly. Designed to align with bus drivers’ operating habits, it does not obstruct the driver’s line of sight.
  5. On-Board Terminal and Cloud Platform: Interfaces with the bus T-BOX on-board terminal to upload data in real time to the smart bus operations and maintenance management platform. It supports fleet-level remote monitoring, push notifications for anomalies, tire data statistics, and fault tracing, aligning with the bus group’s centralized and intelligent operations and maintenance management model.

III. Core Functions

  1. Full-Time Real-Time Monitoring: Under all operating conditions—including idling, low-speed driving, and steady cruising—the system continuously collects real-time data on tire pressure, temperature, and sensor battery status 24 hours a day. Data refresh rates remain stable, and pressure monitoring accuracy complies with industry standards, making it suitable for the dynamic operating conditions of buses with frequent starts and stops.
  2. Multi-Level Intelligent Early Warning Protection: Equipped with bus-specific alert strategies, the system supports early warnings for eight major fault categories: underinflation, overinflation, high tire temperature, rapid air leakage, slow air leakage, sensor disconnection, low battery voltage, and communication failures. To address the issue of excessive tire temperatures caused by frequent braking in buses, the high-temperature warning threshold has been optimized to effectively mitigate the risk of thermal blowouts; instant alerts for rapid air leakage help promptly prevent driving accidents.
  3. Automatic Wheel Position Recognition and Calibration: Supports automatic recognition of wheel positions while driving. After tire changes or rotations during bus maintenance, the system can quickly complete autonomous learning and calibration without requiring specialized equipment or complex operations, significantly improving bus maintenance efficiency.
  4. Deep Integration with the Vehicle Bus System: Natively integrates with the bus’s electronic control system, instrument cluster, and new energy vehicle terminal. Data is synchronized with the vehicle diagnostic system, enabling fault traceability and archiving, and meeting the full-process requirements for factory acceptance testing, annual inspection compliance, and after-sales maintenance.
  5. Comprehensive Self-Diagnostic Capabilities: The system performs an automatic self-test upon power-up, continuously monitors the communication status of sensors, receivers, and ECUs, and automatically logs fault codes and occurrence times. This enables maintenance personnel to quickly troubleshoot issues and reduces the downtime required for bus repairs.
  6. Cloud-Based Intelligent Fleet Operations and Maintenance: The cloud platform automatically stores tire operation data and generates statistical reports on tire wear and abnormal faults. It supports SMS alerts and platform pop-up notifications for abnormal conditions, enabling early prediction of tire hazards and preventive maintenance to ensure tires never operate while defective.

IV. Product Advantages

  1. OEM-Compliant, Vehicle-Level Reliability: As a standard factory-installed component, it has passed all vehicle-grade tests for high and low temperatures, vibration, water immersion, and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) as required for public buses. It complies with the JT/T 1429-2022 special standard for commercial vehicles, is included in the vehicle type approval and the OEM warranty system, and—unlike aftermarket retrofit products—poses no compliance risks, meeting the requirements for annual vehicle inspections and operational audits.
  2. Optimized for Specific Operating Conditions, Exceptional Stability: Algorithms are optimized for core operating conditions typical of city buses—such as frequent stop-and-go driving, brake heat generation, significant load fluctuations, and complex urban road conditions—to resolve issues with traditional TPMS systems, including unstable signals, frequent false alarms, and high-temperature failures. It operates stably in environments ranging from extreme cold (-40°C) to high heat (60°C), making it suitable for bus operations across all regions of the country.
  3. Enhanced Safety, Ensuring Operational Stability: Provides early warnings for various tire hazards, completely eliminating the risk of tire blowouts during bus operation and effectively safeguarding passenger and driving safety; simultaneously, it precisely monitors tire pressure to prevent uneven wear and premature aging caused by abnormal pressure, significantly reducing the frequency of tire replacements.
  4. Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement, Adapted to Bus Operations and Maintenance Systems: Precise tire pressure control reduces rolling resistance, effectively lowering energy consumption in new energy buses and fuel consumption in diesel buses; cloud-based intelligent operations and maintenance replace manual inspections, reducing labor costs and losses from vehicle downtime, extending tire service life, and significantly lowering the fleet’s overall operational and maintenance costs.
